Why is it important to choose the right city?
When you contact us to help you with the student visa procedures, one of the first things we will ask you is in which city you would like to live your experience. Why do you need to know them before starting the procedures and be sure of your choice?
REASON 1:
To apply for a student visa in Australia you need to hire a course of at least 12 weeks. In each Australian city there are many schools and each of them has many courses. We cannot send you the prices of all courses in all cities. You would go crazy! We will send you the best prices for the courses in the schools of the city of your choice.
REASON 2:
The student visa in Australia requires Australian universities, colleges and schools to regulate and strictly monitor student attendance in class. All Australian study programs require each student to attend at least 80% of classes during their study period.
So, while you are studying, you will be living in the same city and your possibilities to move will be limited. For the undecided, there are schools that offer the possibility of moving to other cities or studying in two different cities! Ask us about them.
What should you take into account when choosing?
If you want to head towards your ideal city, we recommend that, first of all, you answer these questions for yourself:
- Do you want to surf? Are you looking for a city with beaches, good weather and good waves?
- Do you want beach? Not all cities have the beach nearby.
- What kind of weather do you like? In Australia you will find tropical and also cold climates.
- Do you want or need to work? Be careful, do not choose towns and cities with little job offer.
- What are your hobbies? Not all cities offer the same services.
- What do you like to do in your day to day? Each city has different activities.
Well…you see, cities are very different from each other. Australia is vast and the cities are far apart from each other!
You can ask us any questions you have and we will help you to finish deciding your destination. However, choosing a city is very personal and you should do it according to your goals and your tastes.
Have you already answered the questions and do you know what kind of city you would like to live in?

The best way to describe a city is through your own experiences and those of our students. You can read their interviews on our blog, or watch the interviews on our YouTube.
Next, we leave you a mini summary of each city and the most interesting interviews:
BRISBANE:
Brisbane has an average of 2 million inhabitants. It is a very quiet, small and cozy city. Being a city that is not very big, it has all the educational and job offers that big cities can offer and it is the cheapest.
There is not much tourism and it is very close to places like the Gold Coast or Byron Bay. It has a stable percentage of job offers throughout the year, and because it is the most northerly city on the east coast, it has the warmest and most balanced climate throughout the year.
The only con of Brisbane is that it has an artificial beach and it is a bit small. However, it is one of the cities that we recommend the most and one of the most demanded by students.
SYDNEY:
Sydney has around 4 million inhabitants and is Australia’s best known city, home to the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge.
It is a cosmopolitan city, with a lot of activity and nightlife. And, as expected, it also has a lot of educational and cultural offers and you will find a job offer throughout the year.
It has a good temperature in summer, although in winter it drops a bit (up to approximately 10 degrees). If you are looking for the atmosphere of an Australian city and
It has a good temperature in summer, although in winter it drops a bit (up to approximately 10 degrees). If you are looking for the atmosphere of an Australian city and good beaches, we recommend it. Of course, rents and public transport are expensive.
ADELAIDE:
Adelaide is like a little treasure: it is not as well known as the others, but it hides magical places. The destination has 1.3 million inhabitants, it is a smaller city where you have thousands of plans to do. It is located in the south of Australia and has a dry climate, with very pleasant springs. If you like wine, you can visit all the surrounding wineries and do thousands of excursions. Do you know the Kangaroo Island? You are going to hallucinate!
PERTH:
Perth is a city with 2 million inhabitants. It is very quiet and familiar, that’s why not, it has so much leisure offer. It has a Mediterranean climate and job offer in all sectors, especially in the mining and engineering sector. It is a city with a lot of nature and wildlife.
MELBOURNE:
Melbourne has been named the best city in the world to live for several years in a row. It has around 4 million inhabitants and is known as the city of art, sports and culture. It has job offers in all sectors and stable throughout the year.
Regarding the cost of living in Melbourne for the city, we would place it between Brisbane and Sydney.
The structure of the city makes it very easy to get around by bicycle and public transport is very well connected throughout the city.
They call it the city of the four seasons because it has a highly variable climate.
GOLD COAST:
Gold Coast is a small city of approximately 600,000 inhabitants. It is the perfect city if what you are looking for are good beaches and surfing. It has a good temperature throughout the year and there are many young people and nightlife.
It’s pretty well bikeable in most places and there’s a tram you can take if you need to travel long distances, although it’s expensive.
The job offer is focused mainly on tourism and hospitality and is not as stable as in other cities. So the best time to come and easily find a job is between September and December. During these dates, hotels, restaurants, … begin to hire staff to prepare for the high season. On the other hand, as of January, it usually costs a little more to find a job, since most of them already have their staff covered.
However, if you are clear about what you want to come to the Gold Coast, go ahead! After all, attitude is the most important thing when looking for a job.
BYRON BAY:
Byron Bay is a small town with a special charm and great beaches. The premises give off very good vibes and you will not find tall buildings. If you arrive in high season (November and December) many tourists arrive and it is difficult to find a job and a house.
