How to harden or strengthen Outlook.com Privacy & Security Settings. It doesn’t scan the content of your email messages, address book, mail attachments etc. to serve relevant ads. At Outlook.com, you can change the privacy settings for your account to make it more secure and private. To do this, go to your account settings and select the “Privacy” tab. From here, you can choose how much information you want to share with others, as well as adjust your settings for cookies, location services, and ads.

Outlook.com gives you complete control over your email inbox. You can move messages to different folders, flag them, and set up rules to automatically handle your email however you want. Manage Your Account
Your account’s details, password, addresses, time zone, email forwarding, automated replies and aliases can all be managed with just a few clicks. Filtering and Reporting Mails
To adjust your junk mail settings, go to the ‘Settings’ icon and select ‘Options.’ Under ‘Filter and Report Mails,’ you can choose a junk mail filter, delete junk mail, and report unwanted email to the sender. You can also block content from unknown senders.
Manage Safe and Blocked Senders
Go to the ‘Settings’ icon > ‘Options’ > under the ‘Safe and blocked senders’ settings, adjust the settings to prevent Junk email. You can add contacts to your safe list or block them so their emails never go to your junk email folder.
You can recover messages even after the deleted folder has been emptied. Go to Settings > Options > Advanced Privacy Settings.
You can add a new email address and mobile phone number to your Outlook.com account for security purposes. This is a good idea if you think your account may have been hacked.
Do not sign in to your Microsoft account on a public or shared computer. If you must, use a single-use code in place of your password.
You can change your Outlook setting to control what you share across your social networks by clicking “Turn off” at the bottom of the People pane.
Options provides additional advanced privacy settings that let you change auto-complete suggestions and Deleted messages recovery options.
