How to Turn off Time Machine on a Macmay not serve its purpose for you if you don’t have an external drive to store your backed up files or if you make manual backups of important files. However, you can still use Time Machine even if you’ve turned off the automatic backup function in Settings. All you need to do is back up your files manually.
On a Mac, you can access your system preferences by clicking the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and selecting “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
Click the “Time Machine” icon.
Click the slider to turn off Time Machine.
