How to suppress the Auto Discover Redirect warning in Outlook for Mac

Outlook on Mac with Office 365 may prompt you to allow the server “auto-discover-s.outlook.com” to configure your settings. This post will show you how to disable or enable Auto Discover for Outlook on Mac with Office 365.

The outlook was redirected to the server auto-discover-s.outlook.com to get new settings for your account

The URL https://autodiscover-s.outlook.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is being displayed. You should only click ‘Allow’ if you trust the source of your Exchange, or if you have been instructed to do so by your administrator.

You can check the box to either allow or deny. If you don’t check the box, you will be prompted every time you launch Outlook.

Disable or Enable Auto Discover for Outlook in Mac with Office 365

Assuming you do not want it, and your administrator also suggests not to do that, then here is how you can disable the auto-discover prompt for Outlook on Mac. Follow the steps:

  • Quit Outlook if it’s running.
  • Press Command + Spacebar, and type Terminal.
  • When it appears in the search, select it using the down arrow, and open it.
  • Enter the following command in the Terminal window, and then press Enter.

defaults write com.Microsoft.Outlook TrustO365AutodiscoverRedirect -bool true

  • Close terminal.

If you want to disable it, then use false instead.
